The Sonic Screwdriver is a multi-functional tool used by the Doctor. First appearing in the second Doctor episode Fury from the Deep, it is used for a variety of functions, including unlocking doors, activating devices, medical examinations and as a conventional screwdriver. The Sonic Screwdriver has been used by almost every incarnation of the Time Lord and is considered one of their most iconic gadgets.
In the Mod[]
In the mod, the Sonic Screwdriver is a valuable tool that has sound effects, numerous variations and many useful features. The sonic can be levelled up by repeated use. In the latest update, each Sonic can do the following:
By Right Clicking while holding a Sonic Screwdriver, the player can:
Level 0 - 1
- Open Iron Doors and Trapdoors
- Turn on Redstone Lamps
- Scan Blocks
- (Un)crack Bricks
Level 2
- Ignite TNT (requires Sonic Griefing enabled in the config file, disabled on DMU)
- Shear Sheep
Level 3
- Scan Entities. The Sonic will reveal the Mob Name.
- Cultivate on Gallifrey. Turn Gallifrey Grass and Gallifrey Dirt into farmland.
Level 4
- Ignite Nitro-9 (requires Sonic Griefing enabled in the config file, disabled on DMU)
Level 5
- Turn Iron Ore instantly into Iron Ingots (works for planet variants too now)
Level 6
- Scan Entities. The Sonic will reveal the Mob Name and Health
Level 7
- Turn Gold Ore instantly into Gold Ingots (works for planet variants too now)
Level 9
- Turn Soul Sand into Bones
Level 10
- Blow up Creepers instantly
Level 11
- Turn (Red) Sand into Glass instantly (requires Sonic Griefing enabled in the config file, disabled on DMU)
Level 12 - 13
- Set Leaves on fire (requires Sonic Griefing enabled in the config file, disabled on DMU)
Level 14 - 15
- Blow up Pigs (can be a bit tricky)
While holding the Sonic Screwdriver, the player will be able to see a text overlay which gives them information about the block they are currently looking at.
The Sonic Screwdriver also has a limited number of charges, which can be increased by continuously using the Sonic. Once depleted the Sonic can be recharged with a Sonic Screwdriver Charging Station.

In a video of the SWDTeam exploring their old 1.6.4 server, 1WTC revealed both he and RedDash16 can locate UDWF1 with Sonic Screwdriver by holding the Shift key and Right Clicking. This feature was initially added in the 1.6.4 versions of the Dalek Mod such that they could find UDWF1 on the DMU Server and has been kept in every version since.
